Dear Alumni,
 
It is such a pleasure to be able to join you on this journey of helping a school that we all love tremendously.  In the past several years, St. Angela Merici has made enormous strides in the manner in which we educate our children:  we have introduced technology in education through a blended learning initiative, we have hired outstanding staff, and we have introduced an early childhood education program that has allowed us to not only reach the youngest students in our area, but also to introduce them to our community.
 
As the new Principal of this wonderful institution, I am looking very much forward to working with you.  One area where I would really like to expand our work is in the area of extracurricular clubs and student activities.  Studies show that students who are engaged in their school community beyond the regular school day enjoy being in the school, perform better on school and state mandated tests, give back more to their community, and more than that - they remember their school as they move forward onto high school and beyond. In effect, having a strong student activities program is helping us to build the next generation of alumni who will continue to contribute to our institution for years to come.  
 
We are asking every alumni to help us get to our goal of $50,000 to support the needs of creating a Department of Student Activities at St. Angela Merici.  Your donation will be restricted to this fund, and will help us create the Division, help us to hire appropriate staff, fund clubs and activities, and stipend a person to manage the division.  We aim to raise these funds by June 1st of next year, and ask that in the memo line of your check, you clearly indicate "restricted funds:  Student Activities."
