St. Angela Merici School has provided quality education to the Bronx Community beginning in 1904 with the Ursuline Sisters as teachers. Since its founding, St. Angela Merici School has served a changing immigrant population in years past from Ireland, and now Africa, the Caribbean and Central America.
Our school strives to provide our students with a learning environment and experiences that develop their academic skills and Catholic faith.
Our patron, Saint Angela Merici, left behind an extraordinary legacy in her life’s work. Part of her legacy include the millions of women who have served God as Ursuline Sisters and the many Secular Franciscans, not to mention all the children who have benefited from the excellent education they have received and those yet to come. How do we keep the legacy alive? We keep it alive by reminding all the children who enter through our school doors that St. Angela planted the seeds of knowledge, respect, and faith, surrounded by hope and love, all of which calls us to service. That seed of life became a well-rooted tree that we embody today.
The Five Pillars displayed through our building remind us of how we are to continue the great legacy of a great saint who truly lived the Gospel!
